My kids had a long weekend off from school, so we packed up the Honda and headed to St. Louis to visit family. And see the big Arch. I'm a such a sucker for a really big arch.
Like, totally.
We went to the top of the Arch and the view was amazing. This is Busch Stadium, home of the 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Yeah, we were in town for games six and seven of the series, both won by the Cardinals. I've never been a good luck charm before, but I do believe the city of St. Louis owes me a small debt of gratitude for bringing some good joo joo to the Cards. Let's face it: they couldn't have won the World Series without me and my superior joo joo.
While at the top of the Arch, what held my attention wasn't the view. No, that would be the norm. I'm usually drawn to the stuff that's slightly off. Like shadows. See the Arch in this picture?
Right now you are probably marveling at my incredible photos and superior joo joo yet still wondering why I titled this post 'What Is Most Appalling About Me'. Frankly, I was ready to publish this post until I reread my title. Then I realized how serious my digression was.
Yeesh.
We stayed with family and over the course of the weekend it became clear that I have seen very few movies. My lack of movie knowledge is practically nil. And apparently this lack of knowledge is appalling enough that I came home from vacation with homework. Who goes to St. Louis, sees the big Arch, and gets homework?
Me.
I came home with a list of twenty movies that I've never seen and simply must watch. They are supposed to be wonderful and classic and fabulous and to be viewing them for the first time at age thirty-nine is wholly un-American and appalling. Typed below is my list of never-seen-before movies.
Don't judge me. I know my crime.

That's my homework. I'll keep you posted on my progress … or lack thereof. Some of those movies are scary and I so do not do scary very well.
Pin It Now!
I've only seen 4 on that list, so you're not quite alone :)
ReplyDeleteHow did we grow up in the same house and I've seen all of these but one and you haven't seen any?? And there are so many to add to the list...
ReplyDeleteSee? You now have a blog buddy to virtually see all those movies with! And everything is included! Something new, something old, something borrowed... We have drama, comedies, and yes, JOHN, a musical. We are nothing is not well cinematically well rounded.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
ReplyDeleteThe security word I had to type in for my last comment was undes - which is dangerously close to undies. Do you think someone was spying on us at the museum?
I'm comforted by the knowledge that there is someone else in the world who has as little cinematic experience as me. Yay!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree that this is a well rounded list. As for any 'missing' movies, well, I have seen some movies in my life. Not many, but some. :)
