It happened again this week. I had some time to kill in town and I was by a Goodwill. And a Target. My bank account prefers I kill time at Goodwill, where I'm more likely to whip out my phone and snap a few photos of the odd stuff for sale than I am likely to whip out my wallet and buy something. If I kill time at Target, I find at least fifty dollars worth of treasures that I did not know I needed until I spied them on the shelf.
It's a total mind game. And I am just not equipped to win it.
I found this broken scale at Goodwill.
How do I know it's broken? I stood on it to weigh myself. There is no way on this Earth that I weigh that much. So what if I eat butter at every meal? That factoid is completely irrelevant to this conversation. The scale went immediately back on the shelf where I'm sure it sat in shame for giving me an incorrect weight.
Aside from the obviously broken scale, my trip to Goodwill was looking unfruitful in the humorous donations department.
Until I saw this in the Home Decor aisle:
I'm not entirely sure where one would hang this little ceramic jewel, but that's not my biggest problem with it. Besides the fact that she's not wearing any pants, I have two main issues with this object d'art.
One: let's examine the little girl's face. She looks as though she's totally concentrating, doesn't she? Wow. She's really thinking. This is the way I imagine how my face looks when I'm trying to do math or try to remember where I put my rhinestone studded Elvis purse, but I digress.
Man, poor lil' gal is really working. Seriously. No one should have to try that hard to make a deposit. If she's trying that hard to go, might I suggest some prune juice or perhaps a bit of fiber into her diet? A daily bowl of oatmeal and easing up on the cheese will work wonders.
And two: why is her hair dark brown except in between her ribbons where it is a lovely shade of yellow? Does homegirl need a touch up at the salon or what? I'm pretty sure I saw some L'Oreal Paris in the hair products section of this very Goodwill located a scant two aisles over. I think this little lady's hairdo and a discount L'Oreal Paris product are a game show love connection.
From broken scales to constipated art, it never ceases to amaze me what one can find in a Goodwill store. Pin It Now!
