My quest has taken me to an art museum in which I was sprayed by a rebellious self-flushing toilet.
Also, my cultural campaign has taken me to a comedy concert in which my knee was rubbed by the boyfriend of the girl (who inexplicably lost her Bump-It) sitting in front of me.
These instances might damper another person's enthusiasm, but not me. Third time's a charm, right?
Know what I found out? You can find cultural opportunities dang near anywhere.

Even on the long drive between north central Indiana and northern Minnesota.
Behold. I give you the giant spoon and cherry at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
I have no idea what the significance of a giant spoon and cherry is, but I totally dig it.
*Side note: Why do I get such a bang out of normally small objects being huge? Is this something that I should be discussing with Dr. Phil? I will have to ponder this at a later time. Back to my cultural update.
There's a rumor going around that Minnesota has about 10,000 lakes. I believe it. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting water.
Not that I condone swinging dead cats.
Or live cats.
Or any cats at all.
Never mind.
With all those lakes comes a love of fish and fishing, it really came as no surprise that there is art dedicated to the fish.
I think he's pretty spiffy and I love how his tailed is flipped up. He's being so very, very sassy that Mr. Fish.
Minnesotans love their bridges, too. They celebrate the heck out of them by making them fun and slightly funky.
I can appreciate a group of people who put the fun back in functional bridge. This bridge amused me for way longer than it amused the other people traveling with me.
Of course, I was also amused by a piece of glass.
I seriously loved this piece of glass. And I totally dig this photo, mostly because it is one of three family pictures we took on this trip.
Yeah, that's right. 1,500 pictures taken and only three of them contained all four family members. Ding dong here didn't remember the camera's timer button capabilities for more whole family shots until we were on our way home.
Phooey.
Guess what movie this photo reminds me of?
Ten points if you answered Back to the Future.
Remember the scene in which the older McFly kids are starting to vanish from the photo in Marty's wallet because his parent haven't met, fallen in love, and kissed at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance?
Yep. Now I can say that happened to me once. Kinda.
With the exception of fading away in a photo, this was a largely incident free cultural experience. Who knew I had it in me?
Pin It Now!
Love the words, "behold" and "spiffy" and everything else before and after. Great photos, McFly.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I appreciate the kind words, but you should know that they only serve to encourage me to work "behold" and "spiffy" into everyday conversation. :)
