Peace Out, Man

My youngest daughter is having a birthday next week and she requested hot pink peace sign suckers for her goodie bags.

No problem.

I love making things out of chocolate. It's not a difficult thing to do, but it looks difficult. And you can make chocolates when grooving to your favorite music, too. Basically, it's my favorite kind of project.

1. Go to eBay.

2. Find cute chocolate mold.

3. Purchase.

4. Wait for it to arrive in your mailbox.

5. Go to craft store.

6. Buy chocolate in whatever color you desire.

*you could omit steps 1-4 and buy a cute chocolate mold at the craft store.

7. Melt chocolate according to the directions on the back of the bag.

8. Pour into molds

9. Whack the mold on the counter a few times to get out any air bubbles and to make sure the chocolate settles into all the nooks and crannies of the mold. Few things harsh my mellow like an incompletely formed peace sign.

10. Set the mold somewhere cold (like your freezer)to have the chocolate set up quickly. It's about 9 degrees outside my house this afternoon, so I stuck mine in a snow drift right outside my back door.

To be honest, at first I didn't notice the snow drift had a slight slope to it and I ended up in this situation:

My chocolate suckers slid down the slope. See that black post thingy in the upper right corner? That's the leg of the patio chair. Little suckers slid about eight feet.

11. Dig a level spot right outside your back door to ensure that your chocolates don't go skittering off into oblivion.

12. Stand guard by your back door to keep any dogs, cats, or other assorted vermin from munching on your chocolate. I had to keep an eye on this guy.

13. When the chocolate is cooled off enough they will pop out of the molds easily. If the chocolate doesn't release from the mold with ease, stick 'em back in the snow drift for a couple more minutes. Patience, young Skywalker.

14. I leave mine on some waxed paper to come back up to room temperature.

Peace out, man. Pin It Now!

  1. Don't put your hot pink chocolate peace sign suckers on a snow slope. Noted - thanks! Nice pictorial!
