Snow? Waaaahhh!

Well it had to happen sooner or later. I'd prefer later, but Mother Nature did not ask me. I awoke this morning to my husband telling me that it snowed while we slept. My immediate, gleeful response wasn't "Whoopee! Snow!", but a rather gleeful "Is school on a two hour delay? Oh wait - is it cancelled?" Sadly, no. School opened right on time. Stupid education nazis.

I've been watching it snow for almost five hours now. No, I haven't been glued to my window like a goob doing nothing but watching it snow all morning. I've done other things like try to figure out why there is butter on the refrigerator door handle. The snow fall has been in the background of this morning's activities. In a rare moment of self betterment, I decided to suck it up and go outside to enjoy the snow. And maybe for a few Kodak moments (with my Canon - I love irony). And yes, I donned my special hat. The one with the fur lining and the earflaps - it's precious! And yes. I was simply stunning in my chapeau. Perhaps one day, when I look particularly fetching in my cap, I will post a photo of myself wearing it. Today was not that day, but I digress. I'm posting some other photos for you to enjoy. Or groan at, depending on your feelings about snow.

The snow is starting to fill in the brick walk to my front door.  I am not amused.

I will concede to the end of summer and the beginning of fall by placing pumpkins on our front porch. When the pumpkins become snow covered, even I have to admit that winter has arrived. I don't like winter and I hold out as long as possible having those pumpkins on the porch. Sigh. When snow covers your pumpkin, it's time to give up the dream of skipping the cold season all together. I really hope winter doesn't outstay it's welcome this year.

Know what this is? It's the brick walk at the back of the house.Yeah, so? Your point? Look at that drift in the lower left corner of the photo.  A drift, people. A drift?! Ugh! Gonna be a looooong winter.

Yeesh! What could be more sad than a snow covered Weber grill? Breaks my little heart to see old Webbie out there covered in snow. Poor little fella. Oh well, we were going to upgrade in the spring anyway.

I suppose even winter has its good points, like the holly berries that grow in the backyard. I've quite appropriately named them the Halle Berries. And they are lovely when covered with snow.

Pin It Now!
