I bought new jeans this weekend. They are Levi's 525 straight leg. They are from Kohl's. They were on sale.
None of this is new. I've been buying Levi's on sale from Kohl's for years. I've flirted with the 525s, the 512s, the 505s, the 515s, and my one true love - the 501s. Usually they are of a dark denim variety. But all that changed Sunday afternoon.
Just to shake up my wardrobe a bit, I went with the light denim. I'm such a wild woman.
And I love them. I really, really do. It's almost unhealthy.
They feel so comfortable, so familiar, so nostalgic.
They go so nicely with my white Nikes with a blue swoop. It's like they were made for each other. I do believe my swoops swooned a bit.
Well, wake me up before you go go - know what else would look great the light denim Levi's and white Nikes with a blue swoop? A polo shirt with a little alligator on it.
With the collar flipped up.
What could look better … oh crap. I'm in a time warp. Better put down that bottle of Sun-In and take a deep breath. I didn't realize until just now that I've been wearing the same brands since I was eleven.
I feel kinda dizzy.
Sure, I flirted with Reebok high tops in '82. I may have even had a pink pair (or three). But I eventually came back to Nikes.
And yes, I sported Guess? jeans in junior high. With a tapered leg. And side zippers. It wasn't pretty. That's why I've returned to Levi's.
But I have no allegiance to shirts (though I do love an Old Navy bargain. I'm only human you know). Therefore I can not be held responsible if I see polo shirts with little alligators on them. That might be too much for this body to take. I would buy one and flip that collar up.
Like, totally.
And look so awesome, too.
Like, totally.

Or maybe not.
*author's note: I think Laura Bush is an intelligent and lovely woman who encourages kids to read. I'm on board with that message. I would just rather not use her as my fashion icon. No hard feeling, 'kay Laura?
