Now that my home Internet connection has been restored I can fill you in on the weekend my Aunt Joanie and I went on a photo excursion. We got our artsy fartsy on all over the county. And it was awesome.
There's something to be said for sharing your fartsy with someone.
*warning: this is a pictorial. If you don't enjoy my pictures in which I think I'm all that, feel free to skip reading this post. I'll never know.
First stop: downtown.
We hit a former hardware now antiques store with some merchandise sitting outside.
See this?
It's a gargoyle. He sits on top of an old building downtown. I like him. My aunt admitted to me that he always freaked her out as a kid. He doesn't really get to me though. He's not making a scary face or wielding his chain in a menacing matter. To me, he looks bummed that something fell off his chain.
Nope. I don't get the scariness of the gargoyle. It's not like he's a tree standing by itself or something.
Shudder.
Moving on.
The metal pieces in this picture are part of a large sundial.
I have no idea how to tell time on a sundial. I really don't think that anyone can do it. I think most people study the sundial, discreetly look at their cell phone for the correct time, look back at the sundial and nod their heads in agreement. I know that's what I did.
Next stop: bridge
Not one of my finer moments.
Next stop: old cemetery.
My aunt got some pretty nifty photos of old headstones from the 1850s. I did not. I got distracted by this lovely rusty old thing.
It probably is what's left of an old metal planter, but for a few minutes (alright, several minutes) I thought it was a big rusty trophy. I have no idea why someone would put a trophy in a cemetery. Unless that was God's way of welcoming you into Heaven back in the day. How cool would that be?
It probably was a planter. But I like the trophy idea.
Last stop: sunset
Oh come on. You knew it was going to happen. You knew I would post a picture of the sunset. You know I love 'em.
Stay tuned for more Jen and Joanie's Photo Excursions. We're planning on hitting some small Midwestern towns and photographing their funky charm.
Can I get an amen for funky charm?
Pin It Now!
AMEN!! Like your sun dial/flag photo much more than mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Sorry to divulge the fear of the gargoyle. Hope that wasn't a big secret.
