A Tour Of My Room O'Funk

A few months ago I (along with Curtis the paint store dude) agonized over which color to paint my new craft room … or as I've taken to calling it: My Room O' Funk. After several trips to the paint store and dozens of paint chips taped to the walls, I finally decided on a color called Fog Gray.

Fog Gray is a lovely mix of gray with a touch of lavender. I wanted a neutral color to make all the art and funky stuff 'pop' off of the walls. I didn't want a wall color that would compete with my funky junk. Fog Gray suits the room perfectly.

Here is the view of the wall directly across from my desk.

Hey … wait. Is that Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth in Lego miniature form on the far left? Why yes. Yes it is Wondie. You didn't think I have her somewhere else in the house did you? Tsk tsk. She simply had to be in my room.

Framed, of course.

Here is the wall nearest to my desk.

Guess whose picture ended up on the part of a wall most near where I always sit? Elvis.

Sigh. I love him so. But it was just a coincidence he ended up so near to me. Really.

Much like the coincidence that Elvis' neighbor two doors down is Davy Jones' autograph. I really did frame it and hang it up. Every Room O' Funk should have at least one Elvis photo and one celebrity's autograph in it. Who knew that The King would one day live two doors down from a Monkee?

Most of the rest of the framed stuff is photos that I've taken over the years. It's a collection of pictures that I really like that just don't fit in anywhere else in the house. For example, you remember Carl, right? Carl most definitely belongs in my Room O' Funk and not the living room.

My rusty windmill photo isn't destined for the living room, either. Nope. She belongs with me in the Room O' Funk.

I used to have this framed set of thirty-nine cent stamps hanging in the living room, but for some forgotten reason, they've been banished to the Room O' Funk. Hey! Remember way back to 2006 when first class stamps were only thirty-nine cents? Yeah, good times. Oh, and the picture on the stamps is one I took of my girls on a camping trip.

It's one of my favorite photos of the two of them together.

There are a couple of craft projects hanging in my room. If you are going to get all technical about it, the room is a craft room so there should be some craftiness happening in here. Dontcha think?

I quilled a J. Why a J? Because it's my first initial. It's not the most exciting initial to have (I think that would either be an O or a Q), but it's mine. I have another J hanging up in my room (she's made of buttons and I'm not in love with her, so she may be coming down soon), but I really like the quilled one. Who knew rolling up scraps of paper could look so nifty?

Earlier this Fall, I became obsessed with string art. This Imagine piece came out of that phase. String art is awesome and I'll probably do another piece soon. It was just that fun. And you can do it while watching Real Housewives or The American Experience on PBS. I just love multi-tasking.

Hope you enjoyed your tour of my Room O' Funk! Pin It Now!
