A Dirty Helen Kind Of Father's Day

Saturday night we celebrated Father's Day by eating at Weber Grill. Before we were ever seated, I knew this was the place for me.

Any place that hangs a giant red grill off the side of a building as functional art has my immediate and undying love.

We chose to sit outside, which I think is the logical choice when it is ninety-four degrees. And by 'we' I mean me, who pushed my husband (the Father's Day honoree) out of the way to be the first one at the hostess station in order to answer the question 'Would you like to sit inside or outside today?'.

Outside all the way, baby.

Besides the much more pleasant temperature, by sitting outside we were treated to more art. Slightly weird and quirky art. But still art.

Behold. Outdoor art, Weber Grill style.

I'd really like to incorporate a couple of grill thingies into our wrought iron fence at home and I said as much to my husband. He disagreed.

I pointed out that it would be an excellent use for all of our old grill thingies.

He responded that we don't have any old grill cooking grates.

I said that we should scour Craig's List for a couple of those thingies and then incorporate them into our iron fence.

He said that we don't need to look on Craig's List for anyone's old cooking grates for an iron fence that we don't have.

I agreed that we should get an iron fence first and then add the grill thingies as a lovely decorative accent.

He rolled his eyes and said that we are not going to install a fence just to hang someone else's old cooking grates on it.

Sigh. He's a lovely man, but sometimes he lacks vision.

It was after this brief exchange that he ordered a beer to go with his dinner.

Dirty Helen joined us at the table.

Dirty Helen has a very calming effect on my husband.

Two Dirty Helens had him admitting that the grill thingies in the fence were a lovely touch.

Sadly, he declined a third Dirty Helen.

Phooey.

Pretty sure I could have convinced him that installing a decorative fence with grill thingies hanging on it was a good idea. Pin It Now!
