If you can call duct tape a hobby, of course. My kids are obsessed with duct tape.
Of all the attributes my kids could have inherited from me, my love of duct tape probably annoys my husband most of all. Okay, the attributes my kids get from me that annoy my husband (in order) are: a complete and total abhorrence to being late, an intense love of cheesy songs from the 80s, overusing the word 'dude', and an honest love of duct tape.
Dudes, I can't help it. Duct tape has wowed me for decades. The stuff (along with assorted Band-Aids) kept the running boards attached to my 1976 Blizzard White VW Bug for years (true story).
In short: Duct. Tape. Is. Awesome.
And now my kids love it, too.
Behold. Their duct tape collection.
And yes. That is mustache duct tape on the lower right. No duct tape collection would be complete without a mustache design.
Obviously.
Duct tape has seeped into our everyday lives and that's okay with me. After all, earlier this summer duct tape helped to cover up a quasi-inapporpriate swimsuit hanger and create our friend Terry.
I see duct tape crop up daily on new items.
Like school supplies. Just yesterday this was a spiral bound notebook with a solid blue cover. Now she's fancy.
I like how the design incorporates both my love of duct tape and the Olympics.
This was a plain old cup from Moe's. Ta da! Now he's a fancy Sharpie marker holder.
And these used to be ordinary pizza sauce cans.
Notebook covers, plastic cups, and pizza cans were all made into fancy and (dare I say) more attractive items. The duct tape really enhanced their natural beauty.
All pretty normal stuff. Well, normal the world in which your kids cover things with duct tape.
Then things got weird.
Is that a piggy bank wearing sunglasses fashioned out of duct tape? Why, yes. Yes it is a piggy bank wearing sunglasses made out of duct tape.
Want to know something even weirder? The piggy bank is not only wearing duct tape sunglasses … she has wings.
Made of duct tape.
The weirdness isn't limited to the house. Oh no. It extends into the garage.
Behold. Ninja Kitty's cat carrier.
Note that the cat is taking a cue from the horses that live in my backyard and is showing me his best side.
He should be careful. If he holds too still my kids will probably wrap him in duct tape to match his carrier. Pin It Now!
