Should Have Grabbed the Cheetos

Have I ever mentioned that I heart Subway?

Well, guess what?

I heart Subway!

It's the bread. I'm a fool for the bread.

And the fixin's - lettuce, spinach (fresh baby spinach!), tomato, cucumber, green peppers, olives, banana peppers, mayo, spicy mustard. I'm a fool for the fixin's.

Oh, and the chip selection. I'm a fool for a good chip selection. Usually I choose Baked Lay's because they're tasty and I'm on a crusade to make myself less jiggly. But if I'm feeling naughty, I'll grab a bag of Cheetos.

Today, I announced at breakfast with just the right amount of subdued tone and awed reverence, is Subway for Lunch Day. And I am feeling virtuous, so it is a Baked Lay's kind of a day.

*insert raucous applause

Sadly, my glee over eating Subway and Baked Lay's for lunch was kind of short lived today. Just look at this:

Oh sure. It looks just like an ordinary bag of Baked Lay's. But look at the back:

I was perusing the nutritional information label when I noticed the amount of cholesterol in the bag of chips.

Did you see it? The amount of cholesterol?

Amount of cholesterol - OMG

OMG!

Baked Lay's contain so much cholesterol that the label writers couldn't even contain their shock! They put it right there on the label!

OMG!

And, obviously, the label writers are a bunch of teens!

One of my daughter's told me to quit freaking out.

For the record, I deny freaking out. I may have somewhat loudly proclaimed "Holy crap, how much cholesterol is in these things?!", but I did not freak out.

Then the child went on to explain that the bag says 0 mg as in zero milligrams, not OMG as in OMG there goes Justin Bieber.

She concluded her lecture by not-too-subtly suggesting I buy a new pair of glasses since clearly my eyes are failing me.

Sigh.

Suddenly my trip to Subway turned into a need for ophthalmic care.

Knew I should have skipped the Baked Lay's and grabbed the Cheetos. Pin It Now!
