My 20th High School Reunion Part I: The Search for the Right Outfit

I know what you're thinking. "Shut the front door! There's no way she's been outta school for twenty years!"

Alas, it is true.

It is also true that I was seven when I graduated, which makes me all of twenty-seven now.

Okay … I might have made up that last part.

Maybe.

The truth is that I went to my reunion and I had a great time.

My great time started around 11 a.m with a text from my friend asking if I wanted to shop the mall for a cute top for her to wear to the reunion. I agreed to the top shop extravaganza, but also wanted to find a stunning, clearance rack, $9.99 or less prom dress for myself to wear to the reunion.

Ideally I wanted to wear my own prom dress, but that ain't happening, folks. It shrunk while being boxed up in my basement. It's the darndest thing.

I had a back up plan of khaki capris and a turquoise shirt if needed. I am nothing if not practical in my apparel.

We didn't find any cute tops, but we found some humdingers of formal wear! My list of favorites included a lovely frock made of the same material as my 96 year old Grandmother's davenport. Too bad it wasn't in my size.

Then I saw it. A one strap, Carmen Electra circa 1995, slinky little number. In. My. Size.

Did I try it on? Oh hell yes.

Did I parade around the dressing room at Macy's totally struttin' my sassy stuff? Oh hell yes.

Did the dress look even better when I manually hoisted my chesticles back up to where they used to be twenty years ago? Oh. Hell. Yes.

My friend donned this slinky little form fitting purple number, flung open the dressing room door, and said in a sexy Mae West kind of voice, "Does this dress say 20th High School reunion at insert name of smoky local bar here?" Oh Hell yes!

Sadly, we couldn't buy our dresses and wear them to the reunion.

They weren't $9.99 or less. Pin It Now!
